Examination
At the end of each semester, the University conducts regular examinations for UG, PG and M.Phil programmes. The students who have earned 80% of attendance from the University Departments/Constituent Colleges and 75% of attendance from the affiliated Colleges in each semester are eligible to appear for the University examinations.
To qualify for a pass, a student should secure 50% marks in the examinations in the case of PG and M.Phil programmes and 35% in the case of UG programme. Double valuation is followed for the PG programmes offered by the University departments and M.Phil programmes, In case, the difference between two valuation exceeds 15% marks, the the paper is referred to a third examiner. The examination section is fully computerised to maintain confidentiality and ensure quick services.
Supplementary Examination
The University a special supplementary examination at the end of the academic year for those who are having arrear in one subject (either theory or practical) to complete their programme of study. The following norms are followed for the conduct of special supplementary examinations.
* The special supplementary examinations will be held in the last week of July in the case of University Departments/Constituent Colleges and third week of July in the case of affiliated colleges every year. In both the cases the examinations will be conducted at KARAIKUDI only.
* Application should reach the Controller of Examinations (Additional Controller of Examinations in the case of Affiliated Colleges) on or before 10th July every year through the respective Head of the Department (the principal in the case of Colleges).
* Rs.1000/- will be collected per candidate as examination fee. Candidate who opt for special supplementary examinations shall not be considered for ranking purpose.
